01/19/2011 Lake Lanier fishing Report
Details
It's cold out, but the fish are still biting. The birds are here, use them. Trolling 4 arm U-rigs has produced. Pull these baits 80-100 ft behind the boat at 3 mph. Again, birds are the key. Don't put your blinders on and just head to the back of your favorite creek. If you see birds diving, investigate. Jeff Groover caught this nice fish on a U-rig from The Bait Shack. Come check out our $59 Tuesda...

The south end of the lake is still a hot place to be. Bald Ridge Creek, Shoal Creek, 2,4,6 Mile Creeks, Flowery Branch and Big Creek. The key is finding the birds and a good place to start is about 3/4 of the way back in the creeks.
Live bait on flat line and down lines are working great. Try to find the schools of fish in the 20 foot range rather than the ones in the 45 foot range. The 20 foot range see...

The last couple of days has slowed down for the Striped Bass bite. This high pressurre that has been here since Wednesday has driven the fish deeper and they are not very active. I can find them easy, but getting that same bite has been a different challenge. The birds never got up to feed either.
The bass bite was still strong. Pulling a rig pass a brush pile ...

Sean Odell stopped by the Bait Shack after an afternoon of fishing this past weekend. He was thrilled about how well the Spots and Largemouths were eating. He said his best bite came from less than 5 feet of water in the backs of creeks on the south end. His choice of lure was the smaller spinner baits.

All reports that have come in these past couple of days have pointed to Bald Ridge Creek. Today was a windy cold, high Blue Bird Sky day, after the front. All indicators that fishing would have been tough! It was actually good! Fish were a little scattered, but still willing to bite.
Umbrella rigs are still producing well. 80-120 feet back on a loaded up rig at 3.5 mph seems t...

Lake Lanier Fishing Report 11/20/2010. HOT off the press. This picture was sent just a few minutes ago.
Trolling Umbrella rigs in the major creeks on the south end has worked very well these past couple of days. Trolling heavier rigs 100 feet behind the boat has seemed to be the key today I am told.
For some reason, down lining vs flat lining is working better also.
